Doorcard Cleaning |

These genuine door cards were originally out of Gareth's '69. He's changing his interior colour, where as I am sticking with black, so I figured I could make use of them! They are in great condition, although pretty filthy when I started. There was signs of mildew starting to develop on the fronts, so a good clean was in order. It seems to be fairly normal, and people are rarely sure quite how best to clean them. I decided to go with the following stages: A good wipe with an anti-bacterial surface wipe to get rid of the main grease / mildew. I then scrubbed them lightly with an electric toothbrush and wiped them down with a clean damp cloth. After allowing them to dry, I applied some PoorBoys Natural Look Detailer, which finishes them nicely, and gives them some UV protection. They started like this: And came out like this: Not bad for a 40 year old set of door cards. There's a couple of indent marks where the rear seat has been, but nothing that is noticeably annoying The drivers door pouch needs re-affixing, but I'll do that before the cards go on the car again. The hardboard is slighly mis-shaped, but I'll dampen it an straighten them before fitment. Now they're wrapped up and ready for storing until needed! |
